iQstor Releases Intelligent, Affordable and Versatile iQ1210 SATA Storage System to Solve SMB Data Protection, Business Continuity and
Disaster Recovery Needs

iQstor is First to Market with a SATA Storage System that Delivers Long Distance Asynchronous Replication using iSCSI for Under $10,000,
Avoids Need for Additional Hardware

Newbury Park, Calif. – October 25, 2004 – iQstor Networks, developer of intelligent, integrated Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions, announced the release of the iQ1210 Storage System, a new Serial ATA (SATA) storage solution that broadens their current SATA product line to serve the needs of small and midsize businesses (SMBs) requiring highly extended data protection infrastructures for business continuity and disaster recovery applications.

The iQ1210 Storage System builds upon the company’s successful iQ1200 SATA Storage System, taking all its features and functionality -- including embedded intelligence, scalability and plug and play simplicity -- and adds the capability to easily connect iQ1210 systems via iSCSI for long distance asynchronous remote replication.

By linking iQ1210 Storage Systems using iSCSI, companies can easily extend their storage infrastructures to setup secondary remote storage locations anywhere in the world, without distance limitations. The iQ1210 also allows companies to avoid the need for additional FC to IP hardware and leased dark Fiber lines typically used for disaster recovery and business continuity implementations, bringing an extremely affordable and cost-efficient solution for SMBs.

“iQstor’s iQ1210 allows businesses to take SATA storage to the next level and create robust, cost-effective and extended infrastructures for data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery,” Jason Lo, president, iQstor Networks, said. “The iQ1210 brings storage administrators a versatile and highly intelligent storage system for long distance applications, allowing companies to create scalable and affordable SATA-based solutions that are not limited by distance or complexity.”

“iQstor is delivering a very cost effective combination of storage and long-haul disaster recovery for the SMBs.” Marc Staimer, president, Dragon Slayer Consulting, said. “iQstor’s embedded storage intelligence offers enterprise-level functionality with much lower-cost disk drives.”

Designed to address the needs of SMB customers worldwide, the iQ1210 enables storage administrators to quickly and cost-effectively optimize storage solutions for diverse fixed content applications. These applications include digital media and imaging as well as near-line and archiving applications for financial, legal, healthcare and educational institutions, in addition to the data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery applications.

The iQ1210 is a full-featured SATA storage system offering dual active storage controllers with transparent failover, dynamic multi-path software and enhanced data services, all in one chassis.

Availability and Pricing

The iQ1210 storage system is available through iQstor’s network of domestic and international business partners. Estimated iQ1210 end-user pricing starts from $9,995 with 640GB of storage, embedded asynchronous remote replication software and SAN Manager.
